Industrial Laser Cutting
Like the majority of laser companies you've encountered the backbone of Cutting Technologies work is laser cutting and engraving of engineered industrial and architectural components. We average around 200 customers per month and of these around 150 fall into what most people would classify as classic laser clients. The other 50 tend to be more specialised with regard to the amount of design input we offer, and are clients who need an "aesthetic product" rather than a dimensionally accurate component. We love both types of work - the backbone work keeps our lasers busy, while the aesthetic work tends to be higher margin - an ideal mix!
Although you might think the two types of customer are very different, in fact they're identical; both types want exactly the same thing - the right product at the right time at the right price. A mural for a museum may look very impressive, and it might be critical to have it there for the opening night of a new exhibition, but a washer needed to get a bottling plant back up and running is just as important (more so to the bottling plant!). So, what do we do to keep ALL our customers happy?
The Right Product
- We're set up to handle all types and volume of work - orders range from a one-off prototype vehicle protection sytem in armour plate to 15,000 3mm Mild Steel shopfitting brackets (and everything in between). We can also engrave on most materials - this all adds up to us being a one-stop shop for you.
- We have the latest laser cutting machines which means we're able to cut a wider range of materials and thicknesses, faster and with cleaner cut edges
- We've invested heavily in software including Solidworks and Autocad which means we can accept most file formats (or sketches or fag packet drawings or...)
- We have some of the best engineers in the business which means we're able to understand what you want, and cut it how you want it.
- Our quality systems are based on th EFQM "Total Business Excellence" model which means we learn by our mistakes and you benefit!
- Because we do a lot of the aesthetic work we REALLY understand about surface finish, edge quality, careful packaging and how to deliver.
- We have over 10 other laser companies who use us for their urgent / overspill work, or when we can laser cut things they can't. They trust us to get it right and on time for them - so can you.
- We'll stock your free issue material and look after it - we've just doubled in size so we have the space!
- We're very easy to deal with - our customers tell us they work with us because we have a can-do attitude, and don't take ourselves too seriously.
At The Right Time
- Our normal lead time is 2-3 days from receipt of order, although we often deliver more quickly than this. We operate our machines to allow for additional capacity when it's needed, and we don't charge a premium for rapid delivery - we do it all the time.
- Our quotation service is known to be just about the best in the industry (other laser companies tell us this). We aim to quote the same day - we understand you need our prices before you can submit yours, and we want you to win the order so you order from us..
- We stock a huge range of materials in a wide range of thicknesses, and we have excellent relationships with our local material suppliers to enable us to collect material the same day - it's very rare you'll hear us say we haven't got / can't get the material in time for your urgent delivery.
- Although quality always comes first for us (no point in delivering quickly if we deliver it wrong...), we'll always try to meet your deadlines. BUT, if we can't, we'll tell you straight away and offer an alternative - we DON'T take work on and then fail to deliver.
- For large volume orders we'll deliver in batches when you need them; we'll work to your priorities; we've even been known to stock components.
- We'll use the most economic and fastest delivery method we can for your work - we deliver anywhere in the UK (although we're based in Barnsley our largest clients are in the South-East, Cumbria and Scotland!). The price we quote you will include any standard delivery costs - no surprises when you get the invoice.
At The Right Price
- We understand it's a competitive world, and there are lots of laser companies out there. We're not the cheapest, but then again are you? And more importantly would you want to be? We don't - we want to be excellent value for money. To achieve this we invest in our people, our technology and our environment - if something will improve our efficiency, our quality or our turnaround time we buy it.
- We'll tell you if there's a more cost effective method of making your parts, or if there's an alternative less expensive material. We'll work with you to reduce cost wherever we can, including helping you to design cost out of your parts. We've years of experience in laser cutting, associated processes, manufacturing and materials science - we'll use all that experience to give you the best value for money.
- We'll do everything we can to hold our prices, even if material costs are going through the roof (we've just spent an extra £30,000 on Mild Steel stock to try and keep our prices stable over the coming months). We understand that if you make a product your prices are probably fixed for 12 months - we'll try to do the same. If we can't, we'll tell you in plenty of time to allow you to try and find an alternative, or to re-negotiate with your clients.
- We try to control our overheads - for example this web site was completey designed and produced in-house (by a very bleary-eyed director!) - we save money so we can pass the savings onto you. We invested in our own cutting gas generation equipment - a big investment but it means we don't have to pass on climate change levys, increased gas costs and increased transport cost to you.
- We form strong relationships with key suppliers - we get competitive prices and we pass these on to you.
- We religiously service our laser equipment, and ensure our processes are as good as they can be - we're very efficient on our lasers (we've acted as consultants to other laser companies to help them improve their efficiency) - we charge by the laser hour and we get more out of that hour - we pass the savings on.
