Cutting Technologies uses CO2 laser technology to engrave metals. This type of equipment either marks the metal directly or we apply a paste to the surface of the material which is then baked on using the laser. This makes our technique excellent for decorative and visual applications such as display items and instrument panels. However our technique is not the best if you want thousands of high tensile bolts marking with the batch number - for this you need a company using YaG laser technology.

Laser Engraved Stainless Steel
This is a typical example of the type of work we do - 3mm thick brush polished stainless steel engraved for a decorative panel. This is an example of Raster Engraving, so more or less any image can be used for the initial design. This type of panel can be done up to a maximum size of 900x600mm, and the design can be anything from a simple text sign to a complex graphic.
Another example of laser engraved stainless steel. This is a close-up of a large wiring diagram attached to power generation equipment. The detail achievable with laser engraving makes it an excellent process for applications such as this, and because the end result is very visible and long-lasting it can be used in many environments.
Laser Engraved Aluminium
This is a special grade of aluminium designed specifically for laser engraving. It's available in several finishes including gold and silver and allows for really fine detail to be engraved.
An example of a photograph laser engraved on black anodised aluminium. This really shows the level of detail achievable and is an excellent product for museums, exhibitions, point-of-sale and many other applications to create an evocative black & white photograph on a very resilient material.
Laser Engraved Metal Laminates
We stock and laser engrave special metallic laminates - these are metallic coated acrylic based materials. There are lots of different finishes available including the brass shown here, steel, copper etc. We engrave away the matallic surface to reveal the black acrylic, creating a very crisp image, great for sign and diplay applications.
Remember, we also cut metals, so for example if you want a complex shape cut and engraved in stainless steel we can do the whole job in-house - you don't have to source the cut shape from a company and then send it to us for engraving. See our Laser Cutting Section for lots more information
