Laser Engraved Wood / MDF / Ply

Cutting Technologies engraves wood and its related materials on a daily basis. The quality achievable, combined with the endless applications makes this a very popular choice for many clients. The process works by burning into the surface of the material, and results in a permanent high contrast image suitable for everything from a sign to a work of art. We can create excellent 3D effects, and photographs work really well. Have a look at the examples and get in touch to have your designs turned into a creative masterpiece!

Laser Engraved Natural Wood

Laser Engraved WalnutHere's a close-up of a section of a large decorative panel laser engraved on walnut. Different woods react in different ways giving an almost endless choice of finishes. Panels like this are used for interior design, renovation, point-of-sale and many other applications where a visually striking effect is required. We can engrave more or less any image from photographs to text, so possibilities are endless.

Laser Engraved Beech Awards We regularly engrave on machined parts - these are laser engraved beech awards. We can engrave on more-or-less any shaped item, including round components, so you're able to create something totally unique for your client. Applications have ranged from awards as shown to shopfitting components and interior design. Individual parts can be as large as 900x600x150mm.

Laser Engraved Cherry An example showing fine detail on a very small part - this is about the size of a 50p piece and is laser cut and engraved cherry wood. The web pattern details are a little thicker than hair lines, and the top left has a website address engraved in a tiny yet legible font. We've done work like this for everything from gaming tokens to promotional give-aways.

Laser Engraved MDF

Deep Laser Engraved MDFAn example of deep laser engraving in standard MDF. This was done to create a "printers block" effect and the engraving is around 3mm deep. We can combine deep and shallow engraving on the same part, so the creative possibilities are endless. We've used this technique for applications ranging from old school desks for an exhibition to a background image for a television studio.

Laser Cut & Engraved MDF JigsawA laser cut and engraved Jigsaw piece. This is oak veneered MDF - we can supply many different types of veneer offering you a cost-effective way of giving the appearance of solid wood without the expense! This has been used for applications ranging from invitations to business cards and is a favourite of marketing companies looking for an unusual way of promoting their client's event or product.

Laser Engraved Plywood

Laser Engraved Photograph on PlywoodPly is an excellent medium for laser engraved photographs. The surface colour and texture gives a sepia effect, wonderful for evoking memories of the past. This is a great effect for any type of retro display, and offers high definition images on a resilient material. Applications have ranged from interior design to major exhibitions, and just about everything in between.

Laser Engrave Ply MenuA laser engraved plywood menu. This is about A5 sized and the fine text is size 10 font, and easily readable (in real life, not in this image unless you're Superman!) We engraved and then laser cut the profile, creating a unique menu - you can have any shape you like, and any image or text. Applications have ranged from restaurant menus, corporate invitations and even a sign for a boat. Most image types can be used for creating this type of product, or just tell us what you want it to say and we'll do the rest!

We obviously can't show every application and finish on this page - there is such a huge range of options. Get in touch with us if you have an idea and we'll do our best to help. If you want information on cutting woods etc. please see our Laser Cutting Section.
