It’s not often an international sporting event comes right to your doorstep, but that’s exactly what happened last weekend.  And we were all extremely proud to play our part in the fabulous spectacle Yorkshire put on to welcome the Tour de France to our wonderful county.

More than 2.5million people lined the route around Yorkshire over the two days for the Grand Depart.

From yellow sheep to road art Yorkshire really did have it all. Our gold laser cut lettering helped to turn Langsett Le Hub into a Hollywood-esque backdrop.

We teamed up with the organisers of a three-day route-side festival to create an interactive map which tracked the progress of the peloton using our laser cut bike which advanced along the map as the cyclists did!

In recent years we’ve laser cut parts for the Olympics and Paralympics closing ceremonies so it’s only natural we’d get involved in the Tour de France when it’s whizzing past just a few miles from Cutting Technologies HQ.

We’re very proud to be based in Yorkshire and when the community comes together like it did, it’s no surprise why. The verdict from the French said it all…

"I can see the Tour in their hearts, and in their eyes. For that, I say thank you to everyone in Yorkshire who has made this Grand Depart so very, very special." – Director Christian Prudhomme.
