Working alongside one of our large structural steel customers, we came up with a solution to provide accurate assembly markers and instructions that allowed the Mild Steel components to go directly to site without having to stop-off at the workshop.

Using their 3D CAD system of the final assembly, 2D parts were then produced with correct profiles, construction lines, welding symbols and individual part section numbers. Each type of line had a colour code. Our CAM system then interpreted the colour code to choose the correct Laser Technology to either cut through, Symbol Engrave, Deep line engrave, or Spot Mark.

Over 5000 components were successfully manufactured/ prefabricated using this method and our Client after realising the cost benefits is pushing to develop this method on future projects.
